The seven-day rolling average of daily COVID-19 cases continues its decline.

The Utah Department of Health reported Sunday that the trend of positive tests stands at 1,464 per day. That number is slightly lower than just a week ago, when the seven-day average of positive cases was 1,794. The week before that, it was 2,548.

Another positive trend lies in the number of coronavirus cases that UDOH considers “unrecovered” in the previous two weeks. At the beginning of the year, the number of unrecovered cases hovered around 50,000. But for the past two days, it has been fewer than 40,000.

That trend, along with the seven-day rolling average of daily cases, indicates that Utah is seeing less people sick with COVID-19.

In Salt Lake County, the seven-day rolling average of daily cases stood at 491.14. It’s the first time since Oct. 14 that the rolling average dipped below 500 in the county.

Here is a closer look at the numbers reported Sunday:

Vaccinations reported in past day/total vaccinations • 10,176 / 310,692.

Cases reported in past day • 1,194.

Deaths reported in past day • Two.

The two people reported to have died from COVID-19 were an Iron Country woman older than 85 and a Weber County man between the ages of 45 and 64. The woman was hospitalized at the time of her death, while the man was not.

Hospitalizations reported in past day • 41. That’s down 17 from Saturday. Of the 413 people currently hospitalized, 131 are in intensive care units — eight fewer than on Saturday.

While overall hospitalizations have declined, the number of people hospitalized because they may have COVID-19 have increased. UDOH reported that as of Sunday, 106 people who have COVID symptoms but haven’t tested positive are currently hospitalized. That’s up from 92 on Saturday.

Tests reported in past day • 6,472.

Percentage of positive tests • 18.4%. This is higher than the seven-day average of 16.9%.

Totals to date • 346,624 cases; 1,665 deaths; 13,468 hospitalizations; 2,024,647 tests.
