The Xbox Game Pass magic is at work once again in our latest Xbox Gameplay Chart, with The Medium breaking into the top 20 and Cyber Shadow into the top 40. Here is the top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart for the week ending January 31st, 2021.

Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 1.3 million active Xbox accounts. Chart information is copyright TrueGaming Network. For details on how the chart is calculated, click here.

The first chart of February 2021 has those two inevitable culprits in the top spots: Modern Warfare at 1st and Black Ops Cold War in 2nd, with the rest of the top ten reshuffling below as usual. A little further down, however, the power of Xbox Game Pass is at work with Bloober Team’s psychological horror game The Medium making its first appearance at 15th. Just today, Bloober Team announced that The Medium has already sold enough to cover development and marketing costs, despite launching under a week ago. Luke thought it a “unique yet flawed gem” and that while the pricing might be a little high at $50/£40, it’s definitely worth trying the game if you have an Xbox Game Pass membership. You can check out Luke’s The Medium review for more info. Xbox Game Pass has also boosted another recent release into the top 40, with Cyber Shadow sitting at 39th.

Sea of Thieves, meanwhile, is up two places to 16th. The game’s first season went live a few days ago with three new achievements. The devs also added a new 120Hz Performance mode for Xbox Series X consoles. Since each season brings a lot of new content, it’s likely we’ll see Sea of Thieves sailing up the charts still further. Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, has fallen three places to 17th. Most recently, CD Projekt Red released hotfixes to sort a game-breaking bug that had been introduced with the last patch. CDPR will be working on improving Cyberpunk for quite some time, so it’ll be interesting to see where the game lands in future charts.

There is a lot of reshuffling going on in this week’s chart, with NBA 2K21, Dead by Daylight, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, PUBG, Battlefield V, and Donut County all falling to 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th respectively. This week also brings us three reappearances, all neatly clumped together: The Division 2 is back at 36th, with Fallout 76 at 37th and Fifa 21 at 38th. Black Ops III, meanwhile, has dropped off the top 40 entirely, while this week’s other disappearances include Skate 3, DayZ, For Honor, and Injustice 2. Coming up, we have Control: Ultimate Edition launching tomorrow, with Little Nightmares 2 arriving later in the month, along with any February Xbox Game Pass additions that Microsoft might have up its sleeve. Interestingly, Hitman 3, which was one of January’s biggest releases, hasn’t yet shown up on our Xbox Gameplay Chart, although it’s rising quickly on our PlayStation Gameplay Chart. What do you think? Will any of February’s launches make it into the top ten? Let us know in the comments!
