Jared Leto finally addressed rumours that he sent Margot Robbie a dead rat while filming Suicide Squad together.

It has been widely speculated that the actor, who played the Joker in the 2016 flick, gifted his co-star a rodent behind the scenes.

Just FYI, Jared, most people normally go with flowers…

Lifting the lid on the film during an interview with GQ, the 49-year-old cleared up the speculation.

‘We all had a lot of fun with it,’ he said. ‘But it’s interesting how this stuff takes on a life of its own. I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat, that’s just not true.

‘I actually gave her… I found this place in Toronto that had great vegan cinnamon buns, and that was a very common thing.’

Margot previously spoke publicly about the unique present, but said the rat was actually alive when she was gifted him.

The Harley Quinn star told Elle Magazine she was presented a ‘nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it – a live rat’.

Far from returning the rat, she explained that she had kept ‘Rat Rat’, and fed him a diet of organic berries from Whole Foods, stating: ‘If Harley got something from Joker, she’d probably cherish it.’

Spilling the beans on Rat Rat in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, the Oscar nominee also confessed she found the rodent ‘disgusting’ at first, but soon had a change of heart.

‘But then after that…I was like, I’m not going to kill him. So I ended up keeping him as a pet.

‘I ended up getting him like a sweet little playpen, a slide, a hammock, and a leash because I wanted to take him to set and walk him around… But then our landlord at the place I was staying found out.’

Anyone else a little jealous of Rat Rat?

Viola Davis also discussed the speculation before the release of Suicide Squad, admitting she was ‘terrified’ of receiving something similar from Jared.

‘Now I’m terrified just as a person thinking, “Is he crazy?” But the second part was, “Oh s**t, I’ve got to have my stuff together”,’ she told Vanity Fair.

‘You talk about commitment. And then he sends Margot Robbie a black rat, that was still alive in a box.

‘She screamed, and then she kept it.’
