Netflix are planning a new documentary centred on Britney Spears and her ongoing conservatorship battle, new reports claim.

Following on from the success of the Framing Britney Spears documentary by the New York Times, the streaming service is believed to be moving forward with a series of their own.

Focusing on the #FreeBritney movement, which is aiming to give Britney back financial and personal control of her wellbeing, the as-yet-untitled documentary will speak to those connected to the popstar, and talk about her personal and professional life.

According to Bloomberg, the new documentary was already in production before Framing Britney Spears dropped.

The upcoming project is yet to be officially confirmed by Netflix.

Framing Britney Spears has been widely praised across the world for its inside look at the life of the 40-year-old Oops I Did It Again singer, the media and public’s treatment of her, and her subsequent 2007 breakdown.

In light of the outcry, ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake made a public apology for his behaviour towards her following their split in 2002, after it was alleged he used their break-up to soil her name to further his own career.

Currently, the popstar is under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, after a judge ruled last week that he should remain in control of the megastar’s assets.

He was handed the duty in 2008 by the courts after Britney was placed in a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold, and it has remained in place ever since.

The agreement means Jamie and a lawyer have the legal right to oversee and make decisions regarding her finances, health, business deals, and personal life.

Neither party has asked for the conservatorship to end, but last week a hearing took place where Britney’s legal team requested that Jamie’s conservatorship would be handed over solely to Bessemer Trust Company.

The request was denied, however Jamie lost his bid to retain the power to delegate investment powers for the estate.
