Jake Paul has suffered a black eye in training for his fight with Ben Askren.

The 24-year-old YouTuber – who is set for a boxing match with the retired UFC welterweight on April 17 – broke his nose while meditating in the build-up to his recent fight with former NBA star Nate Robinson, but he’s not phased by his injuries.

He told SunSport: ‘It doesn’t worry me, there’s some great doctors out there nowadays and great dentists. I broke my nose two months ago.

‘But what’s funny is that when I broke it, it actually got straighter. So it was actually more crooked before I broke it. I actually have a black eye right now from training and from sparring.’

And despite his recent setback, he’s not concerned about his looks because he sees it as a badge of honour.

‘But you know, it’s it’s it’s all it’s all part of the business,’ he added. ‘Girls love black eyes. So that’s, you know, it’s actually working in my benefit.’

Jake’s pro debut came last year in a winning battle against online rival AnEsonGib, before beating Robinson in two rounds to build some momentum with a second knockout victory.

His previous life as a viral video and Disney Channel star alongside his brother Logan, 25, has naturally been used by upcoming opponent Askren with the usual pre-fight trash talk.

However, Jake suggested the insults will come bake to bite him if he loses to someone he’s been mocking for weeks.

‘You know, I think he’s doing a good job of promoting the fight and talking smack. You know, I’m embracing the fact that I’m a Disney teen actor,’ he added.

‘I’m completely embracing that I actually made a side by side comparison of my stats and his stats as as a fighter. You know, he’s a two time NCAA champion Olympic wrestler. He’s defeated MMA legends he has a better record than Conor McGregor.

‘And me on the other hand, I put Disney actor, YouTuber, virgin, the list goes on. But this is why it’s embarrassing for him is because he’s going to get beat up by a kid who was on Disney Channel.’

And he insisted Askren is going to look ‘even more stupid’ by losing after a string of snide remarks playing down the challenge.

He warned: ‘So you know, he can keep on promoting that I’m a Disney actor, but when I knock him out that just gonna make him look even more stupid.’
