James Corden has lost more than a stone in five after joining WW – and he wants to be ripped ‘like The Rock’.

The 42-year-old chat show host recently joined the group – which was previously known as Weight Watchers – and while he ‘hates’ doing exercise, his wife Julia figures out circuits for them to do together.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey on the WW Facebook page, he said: ‘My wife is planning a little circuit for us after this, so we do it together.

‘We do these weights and little runs and I moan about it constantly. In a year’s time we are all going to be so ripped. It will be crazy. I will be like The Rock.’

James may not reach Dwayne Johnson levels of buff – honestly, who could? – but he’s definitely on track to improve his own fitness, even after initially being wary of going on a diet because he’s a man.

He added: ‘As a man, it’s historically seen as [not] very sexy to say that you’re on a diet, or it’s not very manly somehow to want to make changes in your own health.

‘Because men drink beer, and we go out, and it doesn’t matter what you look like, and all those things.

‘I actually think, I think it is the single most positive and sexy thing you can do to say, “I would like to be a bit healthier. I would like to be the healthiest person to my family for my children. I would like to feel better.” ‘

He revealed in the New Year that he had signed up with the health and fitness programme after feeling ’embarrassed’.

He said at the time: ‘I want to change the way that I live. I want to be better for my children and for my family.

‘I don’t want to wake up tired, or feel embarrassed when I’m chasing my son on the soccer field and out of breath after three minutes.’

However, James has explained his motivation comes from wanting to improve his ‘wellness’ rather than focusing on losing weight.

He added: ‘The weight is not the issue, it’s the wellness of it I am ready to tackle. I’m going to take this year and work towards getting healthy…

‘If 2020 taught us anything it was that taking care of yourself has to be a priority. I called WW because I absolutely believe that they have the tools in place to help me make this change.’
