Strictly Come Dancing’s Ranvir Singh reunited with her competitor Jamie Laing and thanked him for reaching out to her when she struggled behind-the-scenes.
The Made In Chelsea star appeared on Lorraine this morning, where Ranvir is filling in for Lorraine Kelly for the week.
Reflecting on their time on the BBC dancing show, the pair joked that they had already forgotten the tricky dance steps that were drilled into them over the end of 2020.
Ranvir then praised Jamie for now becoming a spokesperson for mental health, talking about the campaign he’s fronting aimed at men speaking up if they’re struggling.
She then told him: ‘Can I just say thank you to you, because when I was having a bit of a tough time you did talk to me.
‘We couldn’t really be near each other, but you definitely helped me, so you are a brilliant human being, and you deserve every good luck in the world.’
‘I think we’re in a really tricky time for lots of individuals,’ Jamie had previously explained. ‘Everyone has had their journey, whatever way it is, and I think that, especially for men, the scary statistics are is suicide is one of the biggest killer of males under 45, two thirds of suicides are male.
‘Guys don’t really talk about it, and I suppose I have a place that people sort of notice me. I have a big social media following, and I think it’s important to speak out about how you’re feeling.’
He then encouraged viewers to reach out to friends and family who may be seeming distant and struggling.
‘I think it’s really difficult during these times,’ the reality star continued.
‘I think people are lonely, and I think the more that we talk the better we can feel, and I really feel for people who are struggling at the moment.
‘So I really wanted to reach out and ask anyone, even to get in touch with me. Whoever it is, speak out, be honest about the way you’re feeling.
‘If we talk about things like suicide, it’s a pretty final decision and I think that we can really do things about it if more people speak out.’
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
