Soulmates is Amazon Prime’s latest gripping series that takes the idea of finding The One and churns it through a Black Mirror lens – with an all-star cast to boot.
With actors from Stranger Things all the way through to Succession, you’d be forgiven for wondering where you’d seen them all before.
But luckily, you have us to quickly break it down.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new show, what it’s about, and what else you have seen the cast in.
What is Soulmates about?
Set in an alternate reality’s 2023, Soulmates is a six-episode anthology series, following different couples who have been affected by the test.
The test is simple – your eye contains a soul particle, which is perfectly matched with someone else in the world.
However, that isn’t always as easy as it sounds, and the show raises the question of whether finding your soulmate will actually make you happier as a result.
Who is in the cast of Soulmates and what episodes do they appear in?
Watershed – A happily married couple, Nikki and Franklin, are left torn when those around them start taking the Soulmate test, potentially leaving or cheating on their partners as a result.
The episode stars Succession’s Sarah Snook, and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders, The OA) star as the couple who struggle to make the decision that could ruin their white-picket fence lifestyle.
The Lovers – Married university lecturer David has taken the test, but decided against knowing the result, so is left thrown when his match, Alison, turns up on campus, and the pair soon begin an affair.
But there’s more to her than is being let on, and soon his entire world is turned upside down.
Breaking Bad’s David Costabile plays David, while Humans actress Sonya Cassidy plays Alison.
Little Adventures – A sexually adventurous and polyamorous couple Libby and Adam, take things too far when Libby decides to take the Soulmates test.
She then finds a new kind of bond with Miranda, leaving her marriage in jeopardy.
Wynonna Earp’s Shamier Anderson and Laia Costa, who starred in Only You with Josh O’Connor, play the married couple, while Black Mirror and Broadchurch star Georgina Campbell stars as the unwitting new addition to their relationship.
Layover – A broke man’s life seems to be on the up when he matches with his soulmate in Mexico, and decides to head to them to start a new life.
However, a one-night stand on the way results in an action mission to get back his stolen passport, and he’s left questioning if his soulmate is the right person.
IT’s Bill Skarsgard and Misfits actor Nathan Stewart-Jarrett star as the couple.
Break On Through – After discovering that his soulmate has been killed in a car crash before ever meeting her, Kurt (Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton) has given up on love and feels like something is missing.
After meeting Martha (Watchmen and Billions’ Malin Akerman), Kurt is sucked into a religious sect who promises to give him some redemption. But there’s a catch.
The (Power) Ballad of Caitlin Jones – After a series of deadbeat and abusive boyfriends, Caitlin feels like she’s finally found love with her soulmate, handsome and charming doctor Nathan.
Finding a new sense of confidence in his presence, she kicks our oaf boyfriend Doug and prepares for a new life with him.
Well, she definitely finds some empowerment, but not in the way she expected.
Caitlin is played by Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt, with Humans’ Tom Goodman-Hill portraying Doug. Captain America and Lost in Space’s JJ Feild plays the mysterious newcomer into her life.
Soulmates is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
