This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford returned to hosting duties on today’s show – much to the delight of viewers.

The telly husband and wife stepped down from presenting on Fridays in December to make way for new duo Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, however, they are back at the helm for the half-term while main presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield take a well-deserved break.

Kicking off the show, Eamonn began: ‘Half term it’s Eamonn and Ruth on your screens until Friday.’

Ruth added: ‘It certainly is and it’s lovely to see you all.’

Audiences were chuffed to see Eamonn and Ruth back on the sofa and flooded Twitter with glee.

‘So nice to see Ruth and Eamonn back on #thismorning I shall be watching again this week,’ enthused one.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another posted: ‘How nice to switch on this programme and see Eamonn and Ruth presenting it again instead of Holly & Phil or Dermot & Alison!’

Eamonn and Ruth last appeared on This Morning in December where they ended the show by urging viewers to be ‘nice and lovely’ to Alison and Dermot when they take over the Friday slot.

During their last segment, the couple thanked fans for their support, while also wishing Alison and Dermot good luck.

‘You won’t be watching us anymore on a Friday,’ Eamonn said. ‘Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary they’re going to be here on Fridays from here on in.

‘Please we would ask you to be as nice and lovely to them, friends of ours as they are – and we’re very close to Alison – as you have been to us for the past 15 years.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
