This Morning’s Ruth Langsford was convinced that the text she received saying she was eligible to get her coronavirus vaccine was a hoax.
The 60-year-old presenter, who turns 61 next month, received the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab at the weekend and is keeping her fingers crossed that it’ll soon mean she can reunite with her mother.
However, returning to the ITV programme today, Ruth shared that she initially thought the message was a joke.
Speaking with her husband Eamonn Holmes by her side, Ruth shared: ‘I questioned it because I got the text and because I’m 61, I thought, “This is too early, surely?”
‘I phoned my surgery and they said, “No, no that’s absolutely right.’”
‘They’re just very efficient,’ Eamonn pointed out.
‘I do feel very grateful and very blessed,’ Ruth added.
It comes after the news that more than 15million people in the UK have now had their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Boris Johnson also said that in England jabs have been offered to everyone in the Government’s top four priority groups.
The priority list set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) includes nine categories.
The top priority was care home residents and their carers, followed by people over the age of 80 and frontline health and social care workers.
The third priority group was people aged 75 and over, and the fourth group was people over the age of 70 and those deemed to be ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’.
Ruth said she felt other than a slight ache in her arm, she suffered no side effects from her jab.
‘It was quick and it was painless,’ she shared.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
