Candace Owens slams Facebook and Twitter for ‘silencing & lying’ about pro-Trump accounts

CONSERVATIVE political commentator Candace Owens on President’s Day accused Facebook and Twitter of purging, silencing, and lying about pro-Trump accounts.

Owens attacked the social media platforms on Monday afternoon as “Happy President’s Day, Donald Trump,” was a top trending topic.

“It says a lot that Facebook and Twitter purged thousands of pro-trump accounts plus President Trump himself and yet ‘Happy President’s Day, Donald Trump’ is the number one trend,” Owens tweeted

“Looks like silencing & lying about half the nation isn’t a long-term political strategy.”

Both social media giants suspended Trump’s accounts following the deadly January 6 Capitol riot.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the risks of allowing Trump to use the network were “too great,” while Twitter permanently suspended Trump over the “rusk of further incitement of violence.”

Though Trump is no longer on Twitter, he was mentioned in more than 60,000 tweets by Monday afternoon.

There seemed to be roughly the same number of Twitter users who supported the 45th president, as there were opposing him.

Many Trump supporters wished Trump a happy President’s Day, and others said they wanted Trump to run for president in 2024.

In West Palm Beach, hundreds of the ex-president’s supporters chanted “Trump” as he rode by them in a motorcade.

Trump supporters appeared energized after the Senate acquitted Trump in his second impeachment trial.

Owens, a vocal supporter of Trump, last week ripped the impeachment trial as being as absurd as President Joe Biden keeping National Guard stationed at the Capitol.

“I don’t know what’s more bizarre,” Owens tweeted on February 9.

“The fact that D.C is still basically under military occupation and Biden’s confirmed plans to keep the national guard here through to March, or the fact that there are still people who believe this has anything to do with January 6th.”

Trump dominated Twitter on the same day that Parler, an alternative platform that many conservatives use, went back online.

Parler was one of only a few platforms that Trump supporters used to coordinate the storming of the capitol.

Last week, Owens accused Apple and Google of censoring Parler and asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk to intervene.

“@elonmusk the future is yours if you want to do it,” Owens said.

“Tech creators are now being told they have to censor millions and millions of people—including a sitting President— if they want to exist in the Apple and Google store.”

Earlier this month, Owens suggested she was considering making a bid for the presidency

“I love America,” Owens tweeted.

“Thinking about running for President.”
