G2 esports star Jankos hit with mystery Twitch ban

Marcin ‘Jankos’ Jankoski
Jankos’ ban is not for long

League Of Legends player Marcin ‘Jankos’ Jankoski has been hit with a surprise ban from Twitch and no-one seems to know why.

One of G2’s best League Of Legends players has copped an unexplained temporary ban from Twitch, although he’s vowed to return on Thursday, February 18.

It’s unclear whether Jankoski himself knows why he was banned but he’s not telling his fans, with various theories including a copyright strike for music or inadvertently showing a proscribed image for a moment, without realising it.

Others have joked that Twitch targeted him because of his celebrated skill with the character of Nidalee and her spear throws, although that seems pretty unlikely.

Jankoski has been playing League Of Legends professionally since 2013 and has been with G2 for three years, so he’s become very much a valued asset.

Nevertheless, he’s recently spoken about maybe wanting to move to North America and play there, as he’s currently based in Poland.

As a jungler, Jankoski has an import role in standard 5 vs. 5 matches, as he takes out neutral monsters in the jungle, while the other four players stick to the lanes.

It’s a specialised position and there are no doubt many North American teams that would be happy to sign him up if he did decide to move.

The brief ban on Twitch is very unlikely to interfere with those plans, as the short duration implies that Twitch does not consider it a serious violation.
