Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would still consider running for president.

The WWE legend turned Hollywood heavyweight has opened up on his political aspirations in the past, and he’d be happy to oblige if it’s what ‘the people’ wanted to see.

Appearing on USA Today this week, he said: ‘I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer…

‘So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.’

Johnson has discussed the “real possibility’ of running for president in the past, after hearing ‘more and more’ people push for the actor to move into politics.

Back in 2017, he said: ‘A year ago, it started coming up more and more.

‘There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think “Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.” ‘

Johnson – who is registered Independent – recently endorsed President Joe Biden during his 2020 presidential run.

In a video shared on Twitter in September, he said: ‘As a registered Independent for years now with centrist ideologies, I do feel that Vice President Biden and Senator Harris are the best choice to lead our country, and I am endorsing them to become President, and Vice President, of our United States.’

A former WWE personality becoming president would be nothing new, as even Donald Trump has a long history with the company, going back to 1988 and 1989 when Trump Plaza was billed as hosting WrestleMania.

The most high profile appearance came in 2007, when real life friends Donald and Vince became embroiled in an on-screen rivalry which culminated in the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23.

The headlining bout saw each of the businessman represented by a top superstar, and the loser had to have their head shaved bald live on air.

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was the special guest referee for the stacked match, which ended when Trump’s representative (Bobby Lashley) pinned Umaga to earn him the win.

Vince was shaved in front of a worldwide audience, but Austin had the last laugh as he hit Donald with the Stone Cold Stunner.
