Loose Women star Charlene White knew exactly how to shut down a troll on social media after they targeted her with derogatory messages about her presenting skills on the ITV talk show.

Earlier this week, fellow Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan shared a tweet informing her followers that she was going to be on Monday’s edition of the programme.

In one of the responses, a Twitter user wrote an unwarranted comment about Charlene, stating: ‘She can’t get a f**king look in with @CharleneWhite.’

When another person questioned why the troll was ‘so horrible to Charlene’, they added even more fuel to the fire in a second tweet, writing: ‘Charlene is s**t that’s why.’

Ever the professional, Charlene, 40, was unfazed by the offensive remarks, quote-tweeting the message with a perfect response.

‘Anna, pop the kettle on and calm down dear…’ the journalist wrote. Couldn’t have written it better ourselves.

Several people shared messages of support of Charlene underneath her tweet.

‘Keep doing what you’re doing Charlene we love you,’ one person said.

‘Charlene, you bring some much needed class to LW. Keep being you!’ another commented.

Charlene became a new panel member on Loose Women in January 2021, following the exits of Andrea McClean and Saira Khan.

She previously appeared as a guest presenter in October 2020, when she, Brenda Edwards, Kelle Bryan and Judi Love hosted the show, making history for the first time Loose Women had been presented by four black women.

Charlene joined ITN in 2008 as a newsreader on ITV News in the early evening.

In 2014, she became the first black woman to present ITV News at Ten and five years later, she was confirmed as the deputy lead presenter on ITV News London’s 6pm programme, which she still presents to this day.

Earlier this week, Charlene jumped to the defence of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when Denise Welch and Janet Street-Porter got into a heated row over the couple’s decision to take part in a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Charlene said that she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talking to someone that they trust, adding that she doesn’t believe Oprah will shy away from asking them ‘difficult questions’.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
