Golden Globes 2021: Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger and Cynthia Erivo join forces to present

Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellwger and Cynthia Erivo are just some of the stars set to present this year at the Golden Globe Awards.

While the ceremony is going to be very different due to the pandemic, the tradition of having previous winners present the awards is very much continuing.

Joining the trio as presenters will be Kristen Wiig, Awkwafina, and Annie Mumolo.

Last year, many of them won in their categories, with Joaquin of course taking home his second Golden Globe for his appearance in Joker.

Cynthia won for her incredible performance in Harriet, while Renee took home her award for Judy.

Awkwafina won her coveted statuette for her role in The Farewell.

Kristen wasn’t a winner last year, but she was nominated in 2012 for her comedy Bridesmaids, which she wrote and starred in with her longtime collaborator Annie.

The iconic comedy duo are, of course, back working together at the moment, having just released their flick Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar.

As for whether we’ll see an appearance from the characters, we definitely wouldn’t put it past them.

We’re not going to be short of iconic female comedians this year either, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey set to host from opposite coasts.

Amy will be based in Los Angeles, while Tina will host from New York City.

Chadwick Boseman

Leading the nominations this year are the likes of Chadwick Boseman, who has been honoured with a posthumous nomination for his incredible performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Anya Taylor-Joy, who has been nominated in the film and TV categories.

Meanwhile, the awards have made history this year as multiple female directors have been nominated for the first time ever.

Emerald Fennell, Regina King, and Chloe Zhao have all been nominated, alongside Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher.

However, there has also been some controversy, with James Corden nominated for his role in The Prom, despite it being panned by many critics and viewers.
