Riverdale season 5 fans delighted over Betty and Archie’s steamy shower sex scene

Riverdale’s Betty and Archie gave Barchie shippers everything they wanted in the latest episode of season 5 – by jumping into a steamy shower together. 

The couple, who have been friends since childhood, found themselves getting, ahem, ‘reacquainted’, with each other after returning to Riverdale after a seven year time jump. 

Archie, who is dealing with the fallout of returning home from war, and Betty, who is now a hotshot FBI agent, are back in their rural hometown, got together to help clean Archie’s old house, which had been overtaken by thugs in his absence. 

But after a hot day of cleaning and lugging things about, the pair finally gave in to a decade-long build-up (in their world, at least) and save some water by jumping in the shower together. 

The steamy moment only lasted 28 seconds but for fans it was a long time coming for the couple, who had been putting aside their feelings to stick with their other halves, Jughead and Veronica. 

But with Betty and Archie now single, there was nothing to stop them, and so all that sexual tension finally reached its climax… so to speak. 

Fans were delighted that ‘Barchie’ was finally in motion, calling the scene ‘the hottest sex scene the show’s ever had’. 

Unfortunately for them, their romance isn’t going to be an easy one – particularly as they’re still good friends with Archie and Jughead.

While Veronica’s now married, Jughead seems to have an awkward at best relationship with Betty, with their frosty reception of each other meaning they’re not on the greatest of terms.

Or is there some unfinished business after all these years they need to settle…?

Riverdale airs Wednesdays on The CW in the US and Thursdays by Netflix in the UK.
