RuPaul’s Drag Race UK: Season 2 queens ranked from top to bottom after Snatch Game episode 6

It’s the RuPaul’s Drag Race episode we’ve been waiting for – the Snatch Game of UK’s season two was finally upon us this week.

The impersonation game is always a milestone in any Drag Race season – and with Gemma Collins in the hot seat next to Michelle Visage, we had high expectations.

Sadly, we felt that this year’s was over far too quickly, with some getting more air time than others – but it was still a solid effort, and it’s proven to be another turning point episode.

We’ve said it before, but this year’s Drag Race has been too close to call, with queens that seemed a sure thing for the finale suddenly falling flat, and others who have coasted rising to the challenge and then some.

This was definitely another one of those weeks.

So who was a match for us and who drew a blank? Here’s our rankings of this week’s queens from top to bottom…

Bimini Bon Boulash

Bimini Bon Boulash has a confidence that has never failed her – and this week’s efforts proved at this point in the game, that she’s the one to beat.

Her Katie Price was just pure fun to watch, and she absolutely nailed it. When every question came around, her answers were the ones we were waiting to hear. She also seemed to be the only one attempting to interact with the other queens, not that they picked up on it.

Choosing to come as an amoeba in a pre-historic runway was a ballsy move as well, and while we did read it a little more as ‘jellyfish’ than bacteria, we couldn’t take our eyes off it and she did somehow make it look like she’d fallen straight off the runway at fashion week.

Another deserved, solid win from Bimini. Girls – watch out.

Tayce

Tayce is fabulous but can she serve more than face? (Picture: BBC)

If you’d have asked us at the beginning of the season who Tayce would play in Snatch Game, it would not have been Jane Turner of Kath and Kim.

But she was hilarious, and managed to inject the fun we know her to be from her confessionals straight into the character, giving her some of the strongest air time of the entire challenge.

As for that runway… we were mesmerised. Alan Carr’s comment of her being ‘like Diana Ross had bought everything in a museum gift shop’ wasn’t inaccurate, but we’re hoping she took it for a compliment.

Tayce really is the dark horse of this competition, and frankly at this point it’s a bit of a travesty she doesn’t have a RuPeter badge. But surely it’s on its way.

Ellie Diamond

DRAG RACE - ELLIE DIAMOND
Ellie finally rose up the ranks this week (Picture: BBC)

We were so happy to see Ellie finally get some deserved attention this week, as until this point she had been just solidly safe, not standing out in a good or bad way.

Her Vicky Pollard persona in Snatch Game deserved more credit than it was given, to be honest – she was interactive and brought about some solid laughs, stayed in character throughout and the look was on point. Plus she confused the hell out of Ru with nearly every answer, which in itself was hilarious.

However, it might have been her runway that knocked her down back into safe territory in the eyes of the judges.

In the work room, her heart-to-heart moment really tugged at our heartstrings and we hope she’s finally found the closure that she needs with her family.

She’s fierce as hell, and now that she’s really beginning to shine in line with her competitors, we’re hoping she keeps up that momentum.

A’Whora

A’Whora was given a bit of a raw deal this episode (Picture: BBC)

We feel like A’Whorea was maybe given a bit of a rough edit this week, appearing literally in one question throughout the whole of Snatch Game.

Louis Spence was an interesting choice and she could have had ample opportunity to play it up, but we just didn’t see it. Seriously, we need an extended cut of Snatch Game, BBC. We feel like we missed out.

But that 10,000BC look was absolutely stunning and we defy anyone who says otherwise. That incredible bone framing was pure art and, as much as Bimini was given credit for looking editorial, we don’t think A’Whorea was far behind.

In the workroom, she also had a breakthrough in front of the girls – and after weeks of being the bitchy queen, she’s finally beginning to soften out of drag and we’re liking her more and more.

Sister Sister

Sister was told she was safe again this week (Picture: BBC)

Gah! We’re so annoyed about this because Sister has fallen into the background a bit again and we’re not entirely sure why.

Her Psychic Sally was definitely perfectly serviceable, and out of all the mystics/psychics that have been performed on the Snatch Game, we think hers was our favourite.

She was only shown for two questions but both responses made us laugh.

Her evil business woman, complete with cat, bone look felt so Cruella DeVil to us – if she was after rare cats instead of dalmatians, that is. We weren’t a massive fan of the beehive though, if we’re honest.

Sister earned her safe spot, and we’re not denying that, but we wish she would stand out a bit more and take more of a centre stage.

Lawrence Chaney

Lawrence got a rude awakening this episode (Picture: BBC)

This week may prove to be a wake up call to Lawrence – because for the first time since the series began, her position on the show was under threat.

A clear favourite in Ru’s eye since the start and with three badges on her, it seemed that she was on a mission to hold that position, and in doing so slipped and fell.

To be fair to her, Ru and Michelle completely missed some of her Miriam Margolyes jokes – including the ‘creamed my knickers’ bit which is an iconic moment from the 79-year-old’s always X-rated chat show interviews.

But they were right, it was one note and there was little she could have done with the choice anyway.

Her runway dress seemed too similar a shape and structure to the Who Wore It Best? challenge in episode three, so it made us feel like we’d already seen this from her.

But hopefully this has lit a fire under her bum, and that will take her through to the final.

Tia Kofi

DRAG RACE UK - TIA KOFI
Tia ran out of luck this week after failing in the Snatch Game (Picture: BBC)

Our hearts broke this week because despite us absolutely loving Tia’s personality, even the biggest fan had to admit that the writing was on the wall for her.

Her Mel B was one note and mainly centred around Eddie Murphy – with not a single Spice Girls joke, Bo Selecta joke, or any of Scary Spice’s personality.

By the prehistoric runway, her pterodactyl dress looked plain compared to the efforts of the others, and there just wasn’t enough argument that she should stay over someone else.

Being put in the bottom with one of Ru’s favourites as well? That was that.

But she’s been a fan fave throughout this competition, and has been our commentator throughout the first six episodes, thanks to her confessionals.

Time had come for her to hand the baton over. It’s been real, Tia.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs Thursdays at 7pm on BBC iPlayer (UK) and World of Wonder (Rest of World).
