Floyd Mayweather parties with Rick Ross at maskless 44th birthday bash in Miami amid Covid pandemic
Boxing star Floyd Mayweather chose to celebrate his upcoming 44th birthday with a party in Miami, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The sporting legend will turn 44 on February 24 and it appears the boxer couldn’t wait to kick off celebrations as he headed to The Venue nightclub in Fort Lauderdale.
The five-weight world champion partied with maskless guests at a VIP party where some partygoers didn’t appear to follow strict distancing measures.
According to TMZ, the venue screened attendees at the door and there was an emphasis on social distancing.
He was joined by the likes of rapper Rick Ross for the bash, which was also attended by boxer Hughie Johnston and his wife Betty.
The 50-0 boxing champ isn’t done there as he took to Instagram to invite fans to come out and party with him over the weekend.
Sharing a poster for the event on Instagram, he wrote: ‘Miami SATURDAY Feb 20th Come party with me and #TMT at The Urban. I want the whole city there!!!!’
‘Covid-19 definitely gone be there wtf,’ one unimpressed fan wrote.
Another commented: ‘Reckon covid isn’t a worry over there in the states then.’
One follower stated: ‘It’s corona time!!’
A total of 27.72million Covid infections have been recorded across the US, with 487,000 deaths.
The United States has administered 54.6 million Covid vaccines, according to Bloomberg.
The star’s party on Saturday will be taking place on the date he was meant to face off against YouTube star Logan Paul.
However, a statement from Fanmio – the online platform broadcasting the show – confirmed a new date is being discussed.
‘After an absolutely tremendous response to the fight announcement, we’re hoping to announce a new date very soon along with some new exciting details,’ Fanmio founder and CEO Solomon Engel said in the statement.
While the exact reasons for the cancellation have not been disclosed, Logan alluded to ‘business complications’ in a recent interview.
