Piers Morgan insisted that he didn’t cut his guest Chris Eubank off as they talked about his father’s ‘violence’ on last night’s episode of Life Stories.

The Good Morning Britain presenter had been discussing the former professional boxer’s dad and how he would discipline his four sons when he was accused of moving the conversation forward.

‘Your father was a gambler, he was a womanizer, he was quite violent with you guys if you misbehaved,’ Piers began. ‘Is that a fair…?’

‘No, that’s not violence no,’ Chris responded. ‘My father taking his belt off, that’s not violence. That’s steering.’

‘It’s still violence,’ asserted Piers.

‘That’s what it’s called today and I can’t talk of what they speak of today,’ Chris said. ‘I know you can’t talk today of discipline, but without it, these youngsters are going to become menaces to themselves, never mind to society.’

Piers then changed the subject to Chris’ school days.

‘You then went through a rough time at school,’ he continued. ‘You were expelled multiple times.’

However, Chris immediately stopped Piers in his tracks.

‘Can I ask you, did you just purposely cut me off?’ he asked.

‘No, no. I understand perfectly what you were saying,’ Piers replied.

‘Children become menaces to themselves and to society if they are not given instruction,’ Chris retorted.

Viewers were aghast at the awkward moment with one writing: ‘Frustrating watching Piers Morgan interview Chris Eubank Snr, won’t let the man speak. Interviewing someone is about listening, it’s about them.’

‘Yes @ChrisEubank! Thank you for calling out @piersmorgan for cutting you off mid-sentence,’ added another. ‘I’m glad you pulled him up on it.’

Elsewhere during the interview, Chris remembered his fight with Michael Watson in 1991 where Watson sustained a nearly-fatal brain injury that cut his boxing career short.

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Chris Eubank is available to stream on the ITV Hub.
