HelloFresh customer gets ‘someone’s bottled up p**s’ in his food delivery after driver ‘had no time for loo break’
A HORRIFIED HelloFresh customer got more than he bargained for -when he received a full bottle of urine as part of his food order.
Oliver McManus, a regular customer of the meal-kit company, received his Sunday morning delivery and discovered a bottle containing a questionable-looking liquid was thrown in with it.
Amongst his hoisin beef, yoghurt spiced chicken, and their accompanying recipe cards, was “someone’s bottled up p***”.
McManus tweeted the German-based company, “Hey HelloFreshUK, I’ll keep it simple: why have I received someone’s bottled up p*** as part of my order? Look forward to your response on this one.”
He continued, “Give me an address, I’ll send it to you and you can have a whiff in case you’re sceptical!”
Hello Fresh’s red-faced social media team responded, “We truly lack the words to describe how sorry we are because of this. Could you please send us a DM so we could deal with this as soon as possible?”
McManus’s post, which received nearly 1,500 retweets and over 6,200 likes, was predictably met with horror and humour – but it also prompted a stream of hate.
Social media users slammed boxing reporter McManus for his “insensitive” response to the surprise addition to his order, suggesting it was an example of the unreasonable working conditions couriers endure which have been inexplicably heightened by the pandemic.
One user replied, “This is no doubt, another sad indictment into the lives of people who are treated appallingly. No doubt has to do too many stops, no time to stop, to pee, to eat or drink. Low wages, zero hours contracts. This needs to stop.”
“@HelloFreshUK Please give your minimum wage staff the toilet breaks they lawfully need,” another tweeted.

“Drivers and staff are exploited by delivery companies using the old ‘they’re self-employed innit’ scam,” another weighed in.
Both McManus and online users suspect the delivery driver may have been forced to relieve himself in the bottle before delivering the meal kit.
“The box wasn’t sealed properly and it was just sort of nestling on the top,” he explained. He told The Independent he was “taken by surprise” by both the item and the online reaction he received.
“The last thing I would want is for anyone to get sacked or in trouble as a result of this incident. It is unfortunate that it happened but I’m sure it raises some wider questions about working conditions in the UK.
“I just didn’t expect so many people to care. It’s all taken me by surprise, if I’m honest,” he told the publication.
McManus told the Metro that the food distribution company had been “very apologetic” and were investigating the incident.
He added, “It is unfortunate that it happened but it is what it is. As it happens the actual food they delivered, which was in sealed packaging, was very tasty!”
A spokesperson for HelloFresh said, “We are truly horrified and sorry that the customer received the offending item.
“Given the wholly unacceptable nature, we are urgently investigating, along with our delivery company, how an open box with this bottle in it was delivered.

“We have apologised directly to Mr McManus and offered an appropriate good will gesture. We are working hard to do everything we can to ensure that this cannot happen again.”
Shockingly, it’s not the first time a food shop has infiltrated by an unfortunate bodily fluid – mum-of-three Michelle Leonard, 42, received three bags of urine with her Ocado order.
Hospital worker Sarah Wilkin was also disgusted after she was given a bag of poo with her Ocado delivery last year.
