Wayne Lineker reunites with ex for podcast as he reveals they’ve ‘stayed best friends and speak everyday’
Celebs Go Dating star Wayne Lineker was seen reuniting with his ex-girlfriend of four years Danielle Sandhu and revealed the pair are still the best of friends.
The Ibiza beach club owner, 58, who is the brother of former footballer Gary Lineker, has launched his own podcast in a bid to tackle social media abuse.
Recording his second episode for No Excuse For Abuse, Wayne revealed he was joined by Calum Best and his former flame Danielle, 28.
He and Danielle dated for several years, before announcing their split in November 2018, and proving things are still very amicable between them, Wayne praised his ex’s appearance on the podcast recording.
Wayne shared a snap of himself and Danielle sitting socially distanced on a sofa with Calum Best and the podcast’s co-host Faris Rai.
‘2nd podcast episode completed @noexcuseforabuse and yes that’s the ex @daniellesandhu 👀😂 we have as promised stayed best friends and we still speak every single day,’ Wayne told his 621k followers.
Wayne continued: ‘Her input into this episode is so good and emotional she is a wonderful but delicate soul. Mixed with my best friend @mrcalumbest and his knowledge of personal media and social media abuse and the way he delivers makes a powerful episode.’
Wayne said he is campaigning for people to be identified upon registration for social media accounts in a bid to tackle trolling online.
It comes after fans have watched Wayne, who confesses he is used to dating 20-somethings, looking for love on E4 dating series Celebs Go Dating.
During his stint on the series, Wayne opened up about his relationship with ex Danielle and why he decided to call time on their four-year romance.
‘My ex Danielle, for the first years of our relationship she never had a job, she was with me 24/7, but she really got into her career which meant she wasn’t at the beach club and it must have been difficult for her,’ he said.
‘I ended our relationship because we couldn’t spend the time we used to spend together.’
Wayne and Danielle had met at his club O Beach Ibiza. Following their split, Wayne said it was time for the pair to ‘move on and enjoy new lives with a special place in each other’s hearts’.
In a statement shared online two years ago, he revealed: ‘Sadly, with no easy way to announce, Danielle and I wish to inform you that our relationship has come to an end and our life journey is taking us our separate ways. As a couple we have experienced some amazing times over the past 4 years…
‘However, our careers have taken us in different directions and we have finally succumbed to the strain that this has placed upon us. We will always be so grateful for the love, time and lessons we have taught each other and the memories are ours forever. We will always be close friends and naturally wish each other all the very best for wherever the future takes us.’
Since being single, Wayne found himself going viral after listing his requirements for a girlfriend on social media, including ‘liking older men’ and ‘being good at geography’.
‘Your geography needs to be on point as girls that think Lincoln is in Wales is not good,’ he teased in the tongue-in-cheek ad. ‘Be intelligent but not boring. Outgoing suits.’
It’s also been reported his daughter Tia, 22, could be following in his reality TV footsteps, as she has been hotly tipped to appear on the next series of Love Island.
