Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers were delighted during Sunday’s show after the ‘best contestant in a long time’ went home with a huge £125,000 prize.

Ray Mann from Edinburgh showed incredible skill and courage to work his way up the board, with fans chuffed for the cab driver as he took home the life-changing amount.

Ray used his lifelines wisely, with host Jeremy Clarkson helping him reach the correct answer to a question on Meryl Streep films.

The contestant also correctly guessed that the Tabard was the name of the inn from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Ray had a stroke of luck, too. After being asked a question on Julian Fellowes, Ray revealed that he once picked Julian up in the back of his cab while working in Edinburgh on his way to the right answer.

Finally, Ray was faced with the opportunity to win £250,000.

He was asked the question: ‘Which country shares the longest land border with Germany?’

Ray didn’t know the answer, and wisely decided to take the £125,000. Good thing to, as the correct answer was Austria, and Ray conceded he would have gone for Poland.

He said he planned to take his wife on a ‘nice, exotic holiday’ with his winnings.

Viewers were over the moon for Ray, taking to social media to share their congratulations.

‘Well done Ray, best contestant in a long while,’ one said.

‘Congratulations Ray, chuffed to bits for you lad,’ another added.

The final episode in the series also saw primary school teacher Dan take home a huge £125,000, while viewers were left baffled after a contestant went home with just £1,000 after ignoring her lifelines.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is available to watch on ITV Player.
