Ant and Dec are set to host a virtual assembly for children to put their minds at ease when it comes to worries they may have over the coronavirus pandemic.

The presenting duo are teaming up with the NSPCC to deliver the assembly online on Tuesday, where they will be joined by Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams.

It’s part of the charity’s Speak Out Stay Safe initiative which usually take place in primary schools, but given the pandemic are now being carried out virtually.

Ant and Dec will help address coronavirus-related worries kids may have and provide them with the knowledge they need to stay safe during the pandemic.

‘After what has been an incredibly difficult start to the year for many young people, we feel privileged to once again be hosting the NSPCC’s virtual assembly for children and their families,’ Ant said ahead of the virtual event.

Dec added: ‘We hope we can remind children that they don’t have to just carry their worries with them.

‘They can always speak to someone they trust if they’re feeling sad, overwhelmed, or unsafe.’

The assembly is expected to cover concerns like kids not being able to see their family and friends, being forced to spend more time online, changes in daily routines – especially as schools have been shut – and experiencing new feelings.

‘The lockdown has turned the lives of children upside down and many are struggling to cope with the challenges it has posed,’ NSPCC’s head of school service, Janet Hinton, said.

‘Although our trained Speak Out. Stay Safe staff can’t currently go into schools, it is essential that every child knows who they can turn to if they need help and support.’

Ant and Dec hosted their first online assembly in June, with the pair racking up more than 100,000 views on Facebook and YouTube.

It saw them answering questions from primary school pupils, wanting to know if they are able to hug friends and sharing their difficulties over having to do school work at home.

Fans recently saw Ant and Dec make a comeback to TV, as the pair returned for the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

It kicked off with a special guest appearance from It’s A Sin actor Olly Alexander and saw Harry Redknapp and son Jamie get up to no good in the first Get Out Of My Ear skit of the year.

Ant and Dec’s virtual assembly will be shown on the NSPCC’s Facebook page from 10am on Tuesday.
