Miley Cyrus rescues cute new pup Angel following death of beloved dog Mary Jane: ‘I am head over heels’
Miley Cyrus has rescued a cute new pup she’s named Angel, following the death of her beloved dog Mary Jane two months ago.
The Wrecking Ball singer, 28, was left devastated when her rescued pit bull mix Mary Jane died, after a year-long battle with cancer.
At the time, Miley paid tribute to her pooch, who she had for 10 years and inspired her song Mary Jane 5EVR, calling her the ‘best friend in the whole world’.
She claimed Mary Jane had ‘rescued’ her every time her heart has been broken and Miley told fans: ‘Going thru this pain without her magic power is so lonely (sic).’
Now, though, Miley has helped to fill the Mary Jane shaped hole in her heart by rescuing a new pup she has named Angel – after her late dog.
Sharing snaps of her new addition to Instagram, Miley was seen cuddling up to Angel and crying ‘happy tears’, as she introduced the dog to the rest of her canine pals.
In an emotional post, Miley penned some of the lyrics to her track with John Travolta, I Thought I Lost You, that featured in 2008 movie Bolt and told fans she believes Mary Jane had helped her to find Angel.
Miley wrote: ‘”I thought I lost you when you ran away to try & find me. I thought I’d never see your sweet face again. I turned around and you were gone & on the days went. I kept the moments that we were in. Cause I hoped in my heart you’d come back to me my friend. And now I got you… But I thought I lost you.”
‘Almost two months ago my best friend a rescued pit mix Mary Jane left this world. I knew she wasn’t gone for good. She had out lived the body she was in but she never said goodbye ….. with her eyes she whispered “See you soon Bestie”.
‘Mary Jane defined loyalty and would never break a promise. I feel her here with me blessing this new member to my family who’s name is “Angel” because she was delivered to me by one… My Mary.’
The Can’t Stop hit-maker continued: ‘It breaks my heart to know Angel was sleeping on concrete in a shelter for 3 months before finally making it home. The stigma and stereotype that surrounds pit bulls tears me in two.
‘This breed is incomparably loving. Just like humans nurture often overrides nature. I want to thank @lisachiarelli for her dedication in fighting for the lives of pit bulls & finding me my perfect fit. I am head over heels in love.’
Miley joked: ‘Not sure I will ever sleep again because I can’t take my eyes off of her! Her halo shines for all to see and I can’t wait to show her off! It’s pretty cool having an Angel on a leash!
‘She is illuminated by the aura of the late and great Mary Jane. Long live love. It never dies. * ALL THE TEARS YOU SEE IN THIS SLIDE ARE HAPPY ONES * 😭 💙💕🦴💌 ⛪️.’
Her post came after Miley was seen choking up on stage while performing in Tampa at a tail-gate gig ahead of the Super Bowl 2021.
She struggled to sing her way through the last chorus of her track Wrecking Ball, later telling the crowd that ‘it never gets easier’ to sing the moving ballad about heartbreak.
Miley, who split from ex-boyfriend Cody Simpson in August last year – said on stage: ‘Singing that song, Wrecking Ball, about feeling completely broken and shattered… everyone suffering is different, even everyone’s threshold of pain.
‘I like to think I’ve got a pretty high tolerance, I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armour, and I also wear my heart on my sleeve. And for that, it gets broken a lot and a lot of us have been feeling broken this year.’
The former Disney star, who was previously married to ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, is now single again and looking forward to dating once coronavirus becomes a thing of the past.
She told the crowd: ‘I’m single now. After Covid, I’m ready.’
