Phillip Schofield has admitted that he doesn’t know whether Dancing on Ice will return this weekend.

Last week, show bosses announced that they would be pausing the competition on Sunday for ‘the welfare of the cast and crew’.

Instead of the live show, ITV aired a special tribute programme titled Dancing On Ice: The Greatest Show On Ice.

The one-off is a celebratory looked back at some of the most iconic moments in the show’s history.

Speaking on Monday’s This Morning, Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby spoke about how ‘weird’ it was staying at home last night.

‘It was weird not to do Dancing on Ice last night,’ Phillip began.

‘Yeah, that was weird,’ Holly replied.

Phillip continued: ‘Watching yourself on the tele. It was a lovely show, well done to the team by the way putting that together, that was a stunning show.’

Phillip went on to question whether the competition will be back this weekend as he added: ‘Hopefully we are up and running with that next week. With a bit of luck. I mean, who knows, frankly.’

‘It’ll be fine,’ Holly chipped in. ‘Let’s remain positive.’

The break in the show comes after a handful of celebrity contestants were forced to drop out of the series.

Professional skater Hamish Gaman is the latest casualty to drop out of the programme after he injured his finger pulling up a sock.

His dancer partner, Corrie star Faye Brookes will now be partnered with Matt Evers.

Singer Jason Donovan was absent the weekend before due to back pain, with doctors advising him to rest.

It followed the exit of Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant, who had to quit after testing positive for Covid-19 with skating partner Vanessa Bauer. Comedian Rufus Hound previously left for the same reason.

Towie star Billie Faiers also left the competition after suffering a fall while actress Denise Van Outen pulled out after fracturing her shoulder.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
