Pregnant mum turns her dressing gown into a chic evening dress for her mate’s 30th

A PREGNANT woman who couldn’t find a comfortable outfit to wear to a friend’s 30th stunned friends and family by stepping out in a dressing gown.

Bree, 26, from Adelaide, Australia, picked up the chic midnight blue kimono for just £11.25 (AU$20/US $15.79) at the Australian chain Kmart, dubbing it her “new evening wear”.

She draped the gown over her body and styled it with statement earrings, heels and a belt, which sat nicely above her burgeoning bump.

To complete the dressy look, she opted for a sleek high ponytail, which sat on her right shoulder for the photos, which she later shared on Facebook.

Pretty impressed with how her outfit came together, Bree – who is already mum to one – shared snaps in a popular Australian Facebook group and said: “Kmart sleepwear is my new ‘evening wear’. You’re welcome.”

Since sharing her unique sleepwear transformation on Monday, her post has been ‘liked’ more than 2,300 times with hundreds of comments from fellow Kmart shoppers praising her idea.

“Are you kidding me? How stunning. Only wish I looked half as good in the daytime,” one woman wrote.

“You look amazing! Great hack and all the best with your pregnancy,” wrote another.

“Wow, would never have guessed,” a third person commented, while a fourth agreed that she too “would not even recognise the dress as a sleepwear”.

“That is absolutely awesome – all you need to do is come home take the belt off and go to bed! What a brilliant idea,” said another.

The soon-to-be mum-of-two joked that when she was leaving the event held at a local pub she joked to her husband that she was already half ready for bed.

“The eyeroll from my partner was worth it in itself,” she laughed.

The mother-of-one said she is five months pregnant and there’s “no way” she would have gone out in a “real dress” while feeling like a “baby whale”.

“When I saw this and tried it on, it was super comfortable and I knew I wanted it,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“On the night, I was heaps warm while everyone else was running around trying to find heaters.”

When I saw this and tried it on, it was super comfortable and I knew I wanted it.

According to the store’s website, the dressing gown is made from cotton, which generally keeps you cool in the heat and warm when you need a layer.

Another pregnant woman who saw the outfit said: “‘I saw these the other day and thought they looked too stunning for sleepwear! I’m 34 weeks preggers and heading out to buy one tomorrow,’ one woman wrote.

While this exact dressing gown isn’t available in the UK, there are many like it with kimono-style dressing gowns available in various stores.

While we may not be heading out any time soon, it might be worth checking out the sleepwear section next time you’re in store or online.
