Steve Irwin’s family have launched their YouTube channel on what would have been his 59th birthday.

His son Robert, 17, shared the announcement on his Instagram page on February 22, revealing it would include never before seen footage of the late TV star.

Robert said: ‘I am so excited to announce the launch of our new YouTube channel! This has been a long time coming and we thought that today, on Dad’s birthday would be the perfect time to reveal this exciting new chapter.

‘From never before seen footage of our dad, to the most behind the scenes look into our family adventures ever, and also exclusive content showcasing our conservation work. You’ll be able to join our family like never before!’

Alongside it was a video of Robert, his sister Bindi, who is expecting her first child, her husband Chandler and his mum Terri.

Speaking from Australia Zoo, Terri said: ‘We’re incredibly proud to share the news that we’re officially launching our YouTube channel.

‘Sharing behind-the-scenes adventures, home movies and special crocodile hunter footage, we’ll take you with us on our conservation missions, introduce you to our wildlife family at Australia Zoo and showcase our Wildlife Warrior work.’

Bindi, 23, and Chandler are expecting a baby girl, and shared an update on their bundle of joy in October last year.

‘Every time we get an ultrasound she’s incredibly energetic and always moving around’ the mum-to-be said.

‘She’s now about the same size as a mountain pygmy-possum. Too cute!’

Steve died in 2006 when Bindi was just eight years old. He was pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef.
