This Morning was contacted by Oprah Winfrey’s team to request footage ahead of her sit down interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Holly Willoughby revealed the news on Monday’s episode as she discussed the latest royal goings on with co-host Phillip Schofield and royal correspondent Camilla Tominey.

They touched on the upcoming interview with Holly sharing that Oprah’s team got in touch requesting footage of Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes’ interview with the Duchess’ sister Samantha Markle in January 2020.

She said: ‘Funnily enough Oprah Winfrey’s team contacted This Morning requesting footage from our interview with Samantha Markle in preparation for the interview with the Duchess of Sussex.’

They aired a short clip of the interview in which Samantha said the couple ‘have quite a bit of apologising to do’ with regards to their father.

Samantha continued: ‘We are not talking about teenagers, we are talking about adults who I believe knew exactly what they were doing, and with regards to my father it was so incredibly wrong, and untoward, and shocking.’

After the moment was aired Holly added: ‘So we don’t know whether or not they used that in the interview, but what we do know is nothing was off limits in this interview.’

It comes after reports that Prince Harry and Meghan, who are expecting their second child, may have to re-shoot their interview after the Queen permanently stripped them of their royal patronages.

Buckingham Palace confirmed last Friday the couple would have to relinquish their prestigious roles with the military, arts, Commonwealth and sporting organisations.

Harry and Meghan’s interview was recorded days before the announcement and is due to be broadcast on March 7.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
