Slowthai has vowed to stop spitting in people’s mouths at gigs, which is probably a good thing considering coronavirus.

The rapper, 26, famously did just that when one fan rocked up to one of his gigs in Milwaukee, Wisconsin holding up a sign that read: ‘slowthai I need you to spit in my mouth.’

Slowthai – real name Tyron Kaymone Frampton – wasn’t against the idea and was seen leaning over to spit in the fan’s mouth, just like they’d requested.

Sharing saliva is a big no-no in the world right now, given the coronavirus pandemic, and asked if he’s ‘upset’ he can no longer spit in anyone’s mouth because of the current situation, Slowthai has insisted it’s a thing of the past.

Appearing in YouTube series Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg, Slowthai, who also has a habit of stripping down to his boxers on stage, told her: ‘Yeah, they say I started it… I can spit in your mouth if you want?’

He was joking and quickly added: ‘No, I ain’t spitting in no more mouths now.’

Amelia said she’s never spat in someone’s mouth, with Slowthai responding: ‘Not even when you’re like getting into it?’

‘No,’ she told him, joking: ‘I think it would be more of a dribble.’

The Doorman artist, who is from Northampton, also revealed the most romantic date he’d been on in the video – revealing it was a hot air balloon ride, where he was given a Mile High Club badge afterwards.

‘I went on a hot air balloon… I live life on the edge. I went on a hot air balloon in LA above the vineyards for love and then we got a badge that said Mile High Club.’

When Amelia joked that everyone has joined the Mile High Club while riding in a hot air balloon, Slowthai hit back: ‘I ain’t done it. I said I went on a hot air balloon, I didn’t say I’d done nothing up there.’

Slowthai – who caused controversy at the NME awards last year when he tried to start a fight with someone in the crowd and was seen harassing Katherine Ryan on stage – recently revealed he is engaged.

The music star is set to wed Russian girlfriend Katerina, after meeting her online.

He proposed in Thailand without a ring and gushed that the pair ‘just clicked’, while insisting lockdown has only made their romance stronger.

‘When you’re like on lockdown with someone and it’s like you either want to kill each other or you’re just having a good time and we’ve had a laugh and I think we’re quite respectful of each other’s space like it’s tight, you’re doing your own thing, I’m doing mine,’ he said.

Opening up on their relationship to ES magazine, earlier this month, Slowthai shared his hopes of having children in the future and his kids having a similar experience growing up to what he did.

‘It’s something that I’ve always wanted,’ he said. ‘I want my kid to have a similar childhood to the one I had, because I didn’t see it as a bad thing.’
