Reading and Leeds Festival organisers are planning to go ahead as planned this summer in the wake of the government’s hopes to ease the UK out of lockdown by June.

A message was shared from the official festival’s Twitter page this week, alongside footage of performances from past years, which said: ‘Reading and Leeds 2021.

‘Following the government’s recent announcement, we can’t wait to get back to the fields this summer. LET’S GO.’

It is one of the first UK festivals to reveal its fate this year after 2020 saw live music put on hold.

Reading and Leeds is set to take place between August 27 and August 29 at Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park respectively.

Who is in the line up for Reading and Leeds Festival 2021?

Also listed in the lineup are Lewis Capaldi, Doja Cat, Disclosure, DaBaby, KSI and Yungblud.

More names are set to be announced in the coming months.

Organisers previously revealed that to make up for cancelling last year, the 2021 festival is set to have two main stages and six headline acts.

‘Covid has given us a year off, so the innovation for next year is testing – everybody will be tested,’ Festival Republic boss Melvin Benn explained to NME.

‘We’re also going to reproduce the main stage twice. What was the second stage is going to be elevated to an equal stage with the same presentation.’

However he added that they would ‘wipe the slate clean’ when it came to booking acts for this year, so the headliners and line up might change.

He continued: ‘What that really allows us to do is book six acts that are headliners.’

How to get tickets for Reading and Leeds Festival 2021
