Prince Harry has finally given his verdict on The Crown – and is far more supportive of the Netflix series than you might think.

The Royal joined James Corden in Los Angeles for a bus tour of the city, during which they spoke about his new ventures and career, as well as stepping down from his duties.

During the chat, the host quizzed Harry on Netflix smash The Crown, where the latest series focused on his parents Charles and Diana – including affairs and eventual marriage breakdown.

Speaking to James, he said: ‘They don’t pretend to be news. It’s fictional. But it’s loosely based on the truth.

‘Of course it’s not strictly accurate, of course not but loosely it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.’

‘I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself,’ he said.

‘Because the difference between that is obviously fiction, take it how you will. But this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news.

‘I have a real issue with that.’

He later joked that he’s like Damien Lewis to portray him in the series, with James adding in that it would be up for playing William.

Harry then joked back: ‘…I mean it’s not great casting, but it is casting.’

The Prince’s comments come after Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden sparked debate among viewers of the series, publicly stating that the show should come with a disclaimer

He stated that events as they are portrayed are a ‘work of fiction, not fact’, and Netflix should place an accuracy warning to say as much.

Netflix refused the suggestion, saying they felt ‘no need’ that the show, based around historical events, should come with a warning.

The Late Late Show with James Corden airs on CBS in the US.
