Pete Wicks recently called time on his tumultuous two-year secret romance with Towie castmate Chloe Sims.

And in a new interview with FUBAR Radio, he was keen on ‘sticking up for the boys’ as he expressed his annoyance at men constantly getting the blame for the breakdown of relationships.

He said: ‘I hear women say this a lot. “Why is every bloke this, and every bloke that?”

‘There are loads of d**khead men, I’m probably included in that and have been a d**khead previously, but there are also lots of d**khead women. Alright? It’s not just men.’

The reality star explained: ‘You can’t just say all blokes are d**kheads because women are just as bad sometimes. A lot of us are unlucky in love – I’m unlucky in love, that’s what I’m going to call it – because you haven’t met the right person.’

Pete went on to offer insight as to why he was still single at his age.

He continued: ‘My nan has always said to me, “You can’t help anyone until you help yourself, and you can’t love anyone until you love yourself.”

‘And I think that’s why I’m still single – I’m 32, and I’ve been in a fair few relationships that haven’t worked out too well. And I think a lot of that is because I perhaps haven’t been happy enough with myself before going into those relationships.’

He added: ‘You look for the things you don’t necessarily feel good about yourself, you look for someone else to give that to you. You try and make up for that by looking for the things that you feel like you’re missing in your own life from someone else.’

Pete called time on his relationship with Chloe Sims in December, with the dramatic scene being aired on The Only Way Is Essexmas.

He told his ITV co-star: ‘I can’t be in a relationship, I can’t give you what you want.’

It’s not the first time Pete has struck up a romance with a co-star, as he briefly dated Jessica Wright and was in a relationship with Megan McKenna for a year-and-a-half.
