Denise Van Outen is concerned that she might need surgery after she fell and dislocated her shoulder during Dancing on Ice rehearsals.

The West End star, who was partnered with Matt Evers, was forced to drop out of the competition after fracturing her shoulder in three places.

The 46-year-old said at the time that she vomited and almost passed out because the pain was so intense.

‘I’ve got another scan soon so I’ll find out if I need to have keyhole surgery. It will mend and ice-skating is not for me,’ she told The Sun.

‘Can I be honest, I thought ice skating would be easier than it actually is. I thought I’d be better at it because I’ve obviously danced when I was younger. I’ve watched it and thought “I can do that”.’

It comes after ITV bosses announced that they were cutting the series short following multiple injuries and dropouts.

The competition has been plagued by issues this year, from skaters contracting Covid-19 to celebrities injuring themselves.

Confirming the news, a representative for ITV said: ‘ITV have taken the decision to move the final of Dancing on Ice forward by one week. The competition’s final will now take place on Sunday 14th March.

‘Our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times. Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is our top priority and we look forward to the rest of the series, on air from this Sunday at 6pm.’

Earlier this week the show’s future was thrown into doubt after Jason Donovan was the latest celebrity to leave the show after a back injury.

Jason had previously been advised to rest by the show’s medical team and he missed the show on February 14.

Last week professional skater Hamish Gaman became another casualty to drop out of the programme after he injured his finger pulling up a sock.

Soap star Joe-Warren Plant and partner Vanessa Bauer were also forced to leave the show after testing positive for coronavirus, as was Rufus Hound.

Elsewhere, reality star Billie Shepherd quit after suffering a heavy fall on the ice, while professional dancer Yebin Mok was also hospitalised at the beginning of the competition after suffering a horror injury on the ice.

Dancing on Ice airs on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
