Bloodlands: Fans left in total disbelief after shocking twist in episode 2
*The following article contains spoilers for episode two of Bloodlands*
Bloodlands viewers were left in total disbelief during episode two, after the biggest twist of the series so far played out on Sunday evening.
In shocking scenes, DCI Tom Brannick killed Adam Corry (Ian McElhinney) out on an isolated island, after bringing him to see his brother’s grave.
It came after Adam accused Tom of being the serial killer Goliath and revealed that his brother – one of the three victims discovered buried on the island – was having an affair with Tom’s wife.
Fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing after Tom raised his gun and killed Adam on the spot.
It had been revealed earlier in the episode that Adam had taken the investigations into his own hands, meeting with a mysterious stranger to discover the truth.
We had seen Tom looking to uncover more truth about the death of his wife 20 years previously, but no-one could have believed he was capable of committing murder.
Viewers took to social media to voice their shock at the gripping episode came to an end, voicing their disbelief on Twitter.
‘I did NOT see that coming!’ one wrote.
‘Just having to pick my jaw up off the floor after that ending,’ another said.
It’s the biggest moment so far, and one that will have huge ramifications for the rest of the series.
There are still so many questions left to be answered after the second episode of the show.
With tensions escalating on the streets of Belfast, and the case threatening ‘all out war’, the second episode saw Tom and DS Niamh McGovern go digging into the past once again.
We’ll have to wait until next week to see the fallout from the events on Sunday’s show.
Bloodlands continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
