Eubank Jr. and Alvarez have shared a long-lasting rivalry. Fans and followers of the sport have always wanted the two to get in the ring. However, for now, their battle remains outside the ring. And ahead of his title defense against Yildirim, Eubank Jr. continued this.

The former champion took to his Twitter to shares his views on the fight. He wrote, “How/why is Canelo fighting a guy I knocked out in 3 rounds, 3 years ago. I guess if he’s really the P4P like people claim he’ll stop him in the 1st round tonight. Let’s see.”

Therefore, with this comment, he questioned Alvarez’s choice of opponent and also challenged the Mexican.

Eubank Jr. fought Yildirim as part of the World Boxing Super Series back in 2017. The talented Brit made light work of the Turk and finished him in the third round with a vicious TKO. Thus, he has now asked Canelo Alvarez to better that.

Is Chris Eubank Jr. right in criticizing Canelo Alvarez?

Eubank Jr. is not the only fighter to question the Mexican’s choice of opponent. Alvarez has come under criticism for fighting the low-profile Turk from several others. So, is ‘Next Gen’ justified in questioning the champion?

The answer is obviously no. Alvarez is fighting Yildirim because the Turk is his mandatory. If not, he would have had to vacate the WBC super-middleweight belt. Moreover, the Mexican superstar took this fight on short notice to make bigger fights later in the year.

Therefore, Alvarez does not have to answer anyone regarding his choice of opponent. In addition, the champion has also shown his frustration at the criticism thrown his way. However, he responded to everyone questioning his choice of opponent in the most professional way.

What do you make of the challenge from Chris Eubank Jr.? Do you think Canelo Alvarez can beat Avni Yildirim in one round and silence the critics?
