Jeremy Clarkson once called for men with beards to be arrested but he’s apparently now grown fond of facial hair.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host unveiled his eye-catching new look on Sunday, with an Instagram photo of him noticeably sporting a lot of beard.

In the snap, Jeremy is seen looking off into the distance wearing a pair of dark shades and a full mound of overgrown facial hair.

‘Face furniture: model’s own,’ the TV star captioned the snap.

Cue a slate of interesting comparisons from his followers, many of who likened his bold look to Father Christmas.

‘Hello Santa!’ one declared, while another fan agreed: ‘Hi Santa season is over. Sorry.’

‘Lockdown is too much for jeremy,’ one follower joked.

Comparing him to a particularly loveable Harry Potter character, an Instagram user commented: ‘Alright Hagrid.’

‘He looks like a retired super hero,’ quipped another.

Singling out another movie character, one fan said: ‘You look like arnie from the last terminator movie.’

However, another noted: ‘Jezza you look like a retired biker gangster.’

‘Jeremys confirmed to be a yeti,’ one follower joked.

In 2015, Jeremy, 60, famously expressed his strong feelings against men sporting beards – forgetting that he himself grew one in 2014.

Writing in his column for The Sun at the time, Jeremy said: ‘It makes you look like you’ve got something to hide — a dodgy hard drive usually. Or a stash of disgusting magazines.

‘Seriously, if I were a policeman I’d arrest anyone with face fuzz on the basis that they are bound to have done something wrong.

‘Adolf Hitler, Peter Sutcliffe, Joseph Stalin, Genghis Khan, Osama Bin Laden, Harold Shipman, Pablo Escobar, Saddam Hussein, Che Guevara … All of them had face hair.’
