Joel Corry confident new song Bed will spark a lockdown baby-boom: ‘If there’s a spike you can blame me’

Joel Corry reckons his new tune is a banger… in every sense of the word.

Called Bed, the 34-year-old thinks that, with no dance floors to go to, couples will take the lyrics literally — and spark a lockdown baby boom.

The Head & Heart chart-topper has teamed up with Raye and David Guetta for the track.

And the DJ and fitness guru told Guilty Pleasures: ‘The world needs some uplifting fun bangers right now and that’s what Bed is — it’s good fun.

‘The lyric in the chorus is, “I got a bed but I’d rather be in yours”… everyone can relate to that feeling of wanting to be with somebody.’

He added: ‘I’ve called it the baby-making banger. If there is a spike in population in nine months’ time you can blame me.’

But Joel confessed he doesn’t need a love life to get him through lockdown. ‘I have been so focused on my music and finishing other records,’ he said.

Sheet music: Joel joked his track, Bed, could spark a baby boom

‘My No.1 love in life is my music — I am basically married to it.

‘It’s what I love. It’s my passion. I haven’t really thought about that sort of thing (love). I have been focused on making these bangers.’

Joel recently made it on to a list of the most trolled UK music stars — which was topped by Lewis Capaldi — but admits that he didn’t even know about it.

‘Obviously, it’s pretty sad that someone would want to do that to somebody. I don’t even notice it.

‘If I do see the odd comment, I just laugh it off. I would never let that stuff affect me,’ he said.

‘I am a really positive person so I don’t let negativity affect me at all. If anything, if someone does tweet me something that has some sort of substance in it that I could maybe take from the criticism, that I could improve on, then I will take that from it. As far as personal abuse — it does not bother me.

‘You need to have thick skin in this industry.’

Button it! Ella’s decade of success defies doubters

Ella Henderson has dubbed herself the ‘Benjamin Button’ of pop.

A decade on from wowing on The X Factor, she boasts two Brit award nominations, a No.1 debut album and her tracks have been streamed more than a billion times.

But don’t call her lucky… ‘I deserve to be where I am,’ the singer told GP.

‘There is a lot of stigma with X Factor that you just get success in the click of a finger.’

Ella, 25, took a four-year hiatus from music in 2015.

Teen sensation: Ella says hard work is secret to her longevity in charts

‘With my songwriting, I needed to take some time to grow as a person. When I came back I wanted to work my arse off,’ she said.

And the This Is Real singer is still clocking up top ten hits, seven years on from her chart-topping debut.

‘Whenever I go into a studio, producers and artists go, “How are you still in your early 20s? You have been around so long”. It feels like I am Benjamin Button and never grow up. It’s a lot of hard work and graft.

‘When you take some time away from fame, to grow from a teenager to a young woman, it is such a transition’.

And with many teen hopefuls going off course, Ella says she had a lucky escape in the wake of the Framing Britney Spears doc.

‘My personal experience was a positive one. I am lucky as a female in this industry to say that.’

My kids can’t flush me out of hiding place, says James

James Corden’s hobby during the pandemic is ‘hiding in the bathroom’ to get away from his three children.

The actor and TV host has been spending more time at home in lockdown with his kids. Max, ten, Carey, six, and Charlotte, three are also indoors as the schools are closed.

James, 42, said: ‘I am like, “Just nipping to the bathroom, could be there for 40 minutes reading and writing emails”.’

It was a ‘miracle’ wife Julia Carey hadn’t killed him, he joked to Oprah Winfrey, adding: ‘She holds our entire family together.’

Don’t Mask about wedding, Aston’s not set date

Aston Merrygold and his fiancée have done ‘all the planning’ for their wedding — but not yet set a date.

The JLS singer and dancer Sarah Louise Richardson pushed back their nuptials when she fell pregnant with youngest child Macaulay, aged eight months. The Masked Singer star said: ‘We’ve never officially booked it, so will turn up somewhere and go, “We’d love a wedding in three weeks.”’

Avoiding spilling any details, he added: ‘Whatever Sarah wants, it’s going to happen. I just say, “I’ll be there, let me know when and where”.’
