Lucy Mecklenburgh blown away as fiance Ryan Thomas surprises her with new house in Manchester

Ryan Thomas has officially outdone himself after surprising fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh with a brand new house in Manchester. 

The former Coronation Street actor had been keeping the new property a secret from Lucy for months, but finally surprised her with the exciting news on Friday. 

Along with Ryan’s daughter Scarlett, the couple headed on a road trip to Cheshire where the beautiful Edwardian home is located. 

Filming their car journey, Lucy explained: ‘The only person crazy enough to buy a house without showing his fiancee first. We are on our way to pick up the keys to our new Manchester home. I’m excited, I’m nervous.’ 

Ryan, who was in the driver’s seat, proceeded to serenade Lucy with The Stylistics’ classic ballad You Make Me Feel Brand New. 

Ah, who said romance was dead? 

Lucy wrote in the caption: ‘New house, new project, new memories to be made 💛🏡 @ryanthomas84 bought our new Manchester home without me viewing it 🤦🏽‍♀️ he is a very brave man hahahah!!!

‘I’ll be posting the full renovation process on @lucymeckinteriors 🙌💛.’ 

Ryan, 36, immediately earned brownie points after Lucy, 29, learned the property had a basement, which she planned to renovate with a utility room, cinema, wine cellar and possibly a gym. 

The actor had also sweetly set up a mattress and projector so they could enjoy their first night in the property watching a movie. 

During a Q&A with fans, Lucy confirmed that she and Ryan plan on splitting their time between their new property and their Essex mansion. They already have an apartment in the Manchester area but it was becoming increasingly cramped as a family of four, including their baby boy Roman. 

The former Towie star explained: ‘We have been house hunting for 2 years! Things always seemed to go wrong but I believe that’s because this was meant to be our home!’ 

When asked if Ryan did a good job of picking their new home on his own, Lucy replied: ‘Very! A little more work than I had expected but also very exciting x.’ 

She added: ‘Ryan is in Manchester more than me due to childcare arrangements. So I wasn’t able to view the property. He loved the house & I trust him.’ 

Lucy and Ryan began dating in 2017 and he popped the question the following year. The couple welcomed their first child together, son Roman, in March 2020. Ryan is already dad to 12-year-old daughter Scarlett who he shares with ex-girlfriend Tina O’Brien.
