R Kelly has received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine while in prison.

The singer, 47, is currently being held without bond at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago while awaiting sexual assault charges following his arrest in 2019.

Kelly – real name Robert Sylvester Kelly – has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He had shared his concerns over catching coronavirus while in prison and requested to be released three times amid the pandemic, but each request was denied.

It’s now been reported that Kelly has been fully vaccinated, with sources telling TMZ the star received the second dose of his jab this month from the Bureau of Prisons.

Kelly was vaccinated with his first dose in January.

According to the publication, over 60 inmates at the correctional centre and 128 staff members have all received their full vaccine.

It follows news Kelly’s upcoming trial in New York has been pushed back for a fourth time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ignition artist was due to face a series of charges from racketeering to sexual abuse on April 7, but it’s been revealed his trial has now been delayed until August 9.

Kelly is also due to face trail in Chicago in September for a number of sexual abuse charges. He is also facing accusations of sexual exploitation of children and has pleaded not guilty to several charges in the states of Illinois, Minnesota and New York.

As well as requests to have Kelly released from prison due to coronavirus, his legal time requested bail in September following reports Kelly had been assaulted in prison.

‘Another inmate that had an issue with lockdown, got upset and simply attacked Robert,’ his lawyer stated at the time. Kelly was not seriously injured in the incident.

He has continuously denied any wrongdoing and denies all charges against him.
