Brits win big at Golden Globes as Emma Corrin, Daniel Kaluuya and Sacha Baron Cohen bag major prizes
It was a great night for the Brits at the Golden Globes 2021, with the likes of Emma Corrin, Josh O’Connor and Daniel Kaluuya all walking away with a gong.
The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards took place overnight with the socially-distanced ceremony split between New York and Los Angeles.
Iconic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned to host the coveted awards ceremony for the fourth time on a night that saw British stars shine bright.
The Crown stars dominated in their categories as Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin earned the gongs best performance by an actor and actress in a television series – drama.
Netflix’s Charles and Diana were the toast of the largely virtual ceremony while the series itself also won an award.
Emma thanked her ‘prince charming’ while Josh told her, ‘I love you to bits.’
Daniel Kaluuya bagged the first Brit win of the night as he landed best supporting actor in a motion picture.
The Judas and the Black Messiah star’s first-ever win was slightly marred by technical difficulties but he was able to give his speech in the end.
Elsewhere, John Boyega nabbed best supporting actor in a television series for his role in Small Axe.
Rosamund Pike was visibly stunned when it was announced she had won best actress in a motion picture – musical or comedy for her leading role in I Care A Lot.

The night also saw Chloe Zhao becomes second woman to win a Golden Globe for directing in 78 Years for her film Nomadland, which also bagged best motion picture – drama.
