An arrest warrant has been issued for Fadi Fawaz, the ex-boyfriend of the late George Michael, after he failed to attend court for a fourth time.

Fawaz, 44, is accused of allegedly smashing a shop window at Natural Beauty Bar in Fitzrovia, London, on December 21, 2020, causing £800 worth of damage.

He was due to enter a plea on Tuesday at Westminster Magistrates’ Court but did not appear at the hearing, with District Judge Alexander Jacobs issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Fawaz also failed to attend the hearing at the same court on February 9. He also missed his first court appearance in January after he was wrongly told to attend Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.

He missed a further appearance on January 26 when police did not put his postcode on the letter telling him to attend the court.

A court notice sent on January 27 warned: ‘You must attend and if you do not attend, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest.’

He is accused of one count of criminal damage.

Fawaz had been granted bail on condition he does not attend Newman Street, Fitzrovia, where the salon – which is temporarily closed – is situated.

He is also required to sign on every Thursday at Islington police station between 9am and 9pm.

The hairdresser first met Michael in 2009 after the star’s split from long-term boyfriend Kenny Goss.

The Freedom singer, who was also the front man of 80s pop group Wham!, was found dead at his Goring-on-Thames home on Christmas Day 2016 aged 53.

A coroner later ruled that he died of natural causes – dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a build-up of fat in his liver.
