Bobby Lashley won the WWE Championship on Monday Night Raw.

The Hurt Business CEO – who made his first debut for the company back in 2005 and returned in 2018 after a decade working for the likes of AAA, IMPACT Wrestling and across the independent scene as well as fighting in Bellator MMA – has finally captured the promotion’s top title.

The long 16-year wait for the championship came to an end at the conclusion of last night’s show, as Lashley pinned The Miz just 8 days after the A-Lister stole the gold from Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber.

Staying true to his character, the champ tried to weasel his way out of the match from the outset, as he even asked for McIntyre’s help to defeat the All Mighty.

Despite the title match being set for 2am GMT, Miz insisted he had the cramps and couldn’t fight, but management wasn’t impressed.

Instead, he and Lashley were due to clash an hour later, which he couldn’t get out of even with a suggestion that Bobby waits till WrestleMania 37 in April for his monumental shot.

He did have to wait a bit longer, as the bell rang and Miz immediately ran out of the ring and up the ramp to get counted out and thus retain his championship,

Finally, the main event came with minutes left to the show after Shane McMahon told Miz he was be stripped of the title if he didn’t face Bobby.

To help, Shane O’Mac also made this a lumberjack match with other superstars surrounding the ring to prevent the champ from running away for the second time.

When all was said and done, Miz got left in the ring with Lashley and got caught in the Hurt Lock, eventually succumbing to the submission.

The All Mighty made his point after the bell as he locked it in for a second time, and stood tall with the WWE Championship.
