Bill Burr has addressed Gina Carano being axed from The Mandalorian and has nothing but positive things to say about his former co-star.

Carano, 38, was dropped from the popular Disney Plus series last month after posting a tweet comparing being a Conservative to being Jewish in Nazi Germany.

Defending his former colleague, Burr, 52, appeared to criticise cancel culture and censorship on social media.

Speaking on The Bill Bert Podcast which he hosts, the actor explained: ‘It’s a weird time… Unless she did some truly horrible s**t or said overtly racist s**t… I don’t know.

‘I think there is just too many channels. And then you gotta do sensational s**t…I don’t know what the f**k it is. I’m on that f***ing show. Now, I gotta watch what the f**k I say.’

Heaping praise on Carano, he added: ‘She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice f***ing person. And you know whatever and somehow someone will take this video and they’ll make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure…

‘It’s how it is out there. It’s f***ing crazy times. People just waiting, laying in the weeds.’

Carano starred as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian while Burr appeared in two episodes in the role of Mayfeld.

The actress and former MMA fighter recently claimed she found out via social media that she would not be returning to the series.

In their statement announcing her departure, a spokesperson for the studio said: ‘Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.

‘Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.’

Carano is said to have caused offence with the controversial tweets, which reportedly read: ‘Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children.

‘Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.

‘How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?’

The Mandalorian, based on the Star Wars franchise, stars Pedro Pascal as the titular bounty hunter and Carano’s character Cara often teamed up with The Mandalorian to fight his longtime nemesis: remnants of the evil Galactic Empire.

The Mandalorian is available to watch on Disney Plus.
