Jimmy Carr has revealed he is all for ‘maintaining’ his looks as he gets older, with his cosmetic journey so far seeing him opt for new teeth and a hair transplant.

The comedian, 48, who is best known for hosting shows 8 out of 10 Cats and Your Face or Mine?, said that 10 years ago he decided to invest in fixing up his teeth and spent three days in the dentist’s chair.

Speaking on Gabby Logan’s The Mid-Point podcast, Jimmy revealed he had work done on every single tooth.

‘My cosmetic journey started about 10 years ago – that’s more than veneers I would say. I got my teeth done, that’s the first thing I had done, they’re more than veneers. I got every tooth in my head done in one sitting,’ he explained.

‘I did 12 hours in the chair the first day, then 12 hours the second, it was like a three day thing where you’ve got temporary things on, but it was pretty full on.’

Jimmy continued: ‘I think they gave me Rohypnol – that type of drug – intravenously into the vein and you’re kind of out of it and they do everything and you’re fine. It’s a dream-like haze, you’re in a weird space.’

He said that he thinks people’s go-to when they look at someone is always their teeth and head, so it’s no surprise he’s made sure both features for him are looking on point.

Jimmy confessed that his decision to change his teeth and undergo a hair transplant, was spurred on by seeing himself on TV.

Of his looks now, Jimmy said: ‘What I imagine in my head matches what I see in the mirror. It’s the illusion of being on TV – you see yourself in full make-up looking your best and lit well, then you look in the mirror and go, “Oof, that’s disappointing.”‘

As well as addressing his past insecurities when it came to his appearance, Jimmy added that he doesn’t necessarily think plastic surgery can make you look ‘better’, but he does think it can help you too age well.

‘Maintaining is the thing,’ he told Gabby. ‘I don’t think there’s anything you can do plastic surgery wise, or augmentation wise, that makes you look better, you can just sort of stay the same, that’s what you can hope for.’

Jimmy first opened up about having a hair transplant last year, while making an appearance on Peter Crouch’s series Save Our Summer during lockdown.

He joked that his hair was ‘socially distancing’ from his forehead and said: ‘I’d had enough of it. I shaved my head and what they do is take hairs from the back of your head and they put them on the front.’

Jimmy explained: ‘Basically, I had enough hair, it was just in the wrong place. It was a bit of a redistribution.’
