Mariah Carey is being sued by her brother Morgan over her book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, it has been claimed.

The We Belong Together singer, 51, discussed her tough childhood in the 2020 book, recalling moments of violence between her family.

According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ, he says she falsely accused him of being a violent person.

Morgan, 61, is thought to be suing for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, but it is not clear how much money he is seeking.

The publication states one passage of the book that says: ‘It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart. The big bodies of men, all entangled like a swirling hurricane, crashed loudly into the living room.

‘I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me.

‘More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too.’

Morgan has alleged that this describes him as a ‘violent man’, and that the incident she described didn’t happen, as ’12 cops could never respond to a domestic call’.

As well as this, he claimed that many people saw the ‘deep affection’ he had for his mum.

Mariah has not yet spoken publicly of the lawsuit – which comes just months after sister Alison revealed she was suing the star for $1.25million (£913k) over other claims made in the book.

In the biography, Mariah alleged that her older sister ‘gave her Valium, tried to pimp her out and threw a cup of boiling hot tea on her causing third-degree burns’ when she was 12-years-old.

TMZ obtained Alison’s Manhattan Supreme Court summons, in which she sued for infliction of emotional distress.

She claimed her sibling was not able to offer ‘evidence to substantiate’ her claims, and fabricated instances ‘to promote sales of her book’.
