The Bidding Room has become popular with viewers for its weird and wonderful items brought to the location in each episode.

From the team behind the equally loved The Repair Shop, The Bidding Room seems a group of expert dealers try to outbid each other for extraordinary objects brought in by the public.

Hosted by Nigel Havers and with valuation expert Simon Bower looking on, the dealers compete for everything from jewellery to paintings and furniture.

Each episode a new person steps into the hallowed bidding room with an item and a valuation from Simon.

Each dealer has a limit they are prepared to bid in their mind, so if competition gets really fierce and bids go beyond what they prefer, then a dealer drops out until one is left.

Then it is up to the seller to decide if they want to accept the last remaining dealer’s offer.

Not only are viewers treated to some beautiful objects, the bidding war can get tense.

Where is The Bidding Room filmed?

Episodes are filmed at Andy Thornton Showroom, which specialises in contract furniture, located deep in West Vale near Halifax in Yorkshire.

The showroom is currently closed to trade visits due to the lockdown.

When is The Bidding Room on TV?

The Bidding Room usually airs weekdays at 4.30pm on BBC One.
