Will my rugby hunk have time for me when we get out of lockdown?

DEAR DEIDRE: I FOUND the love of my life at the start of the pandemic. But I’m afraid he might drop me the moment he gets his old social life back.

We met through mutual friends at work, things progressed quickly and we moved in together after just six weeks.

I don’t want to be clingy but my new boyfriend seems to have a busy social life[/caption]

He’s 21 and I’m a woman of 22. I had just ended things with my cheating ex-boyfriend and really wasn’t looking for anything serious. But three weeks later, I was all in . . . and so was he.

Now I’m worried, however. He’s told me he’s a very social guy. He plays and watches a lot of football and rugby.

What if he doesn’t have time for me once normal life starts up again?

I can feel how clingy I’m becoming and I’m scared this will turn him off.

I don’t want him to think I’m a jealous person, so I’ve tried to keep quiet.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is completely understandable that you have low self-esteem due to the bad behaviour of your ex.

The key to fixing this is talking to your partner.

The only way to build trust is to be open with one another.

I’m sure, once you confide in him, he will be able to reassure you.

That in turn will grow your confidence.

From the sound of things, he is just as invested in the relationship as you are.

I’m sending you my support pack on Raising Self-Esteem, which will help.
