The stars of Gogglebox couldn’t believe their eyes when they watched a clip of Celebs Go Dating star Curtis Pritchard being booed off the stage after delivering a gasp-inducing comedy stand up set to raise money for charity.

Curtis, 25, recently took part in Stand Up And Deliver, a Channel 4 show that teamed up celebrities with comedians to learn how to do stand up for a show in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

Having been paired up with Loose Women panelist Judi Love, one of Curtis’ sets saw him tell a very awkward anecdote from his time on Love Island about mistaking lubricant for hand sanitiser while hooking up with a female contestant in the bedroom.

The clip was shown on Gogglebox, with stars including Tom Malone Sr and Pete Sandiford in a state of shock as they watched the performance fall flat with Curtis’ audience.

‘Oh no, where’s he going with this one,’ Tom said as Curtis began his story, while Judi said backstage: ‘I didn’t know he was even going to do this joke – I told him to take this joke out.’

After Curtis said that he used ‘two squirts’ of the lubricant, this prompted sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner to squeal with embarrassment as Judi held her head in her hands on the programme.

As the reality star came to the punchline of his joke, Tom Sr covered his eyes with his hand, while Pete and his sister Sophie burst out laughing.

Having come to the end of his set, Curtis said goodbye to his audience, some of whom started to boo and give him thumbs down.

Despite their adverse reaction to his attempt at being a stand up comic, some of the Gogglebox stars thought this reaction was a little harsh.

‘I wonder if the Queen’s going to book him for Royal Variety?’ Pete sarcastically remarked, leaving Sophie in even more fits of giggles.

Several Gogglebox fans similarly couldn’t handle the scenes on their TV screens.

‘So much second hand embarrassment watching Curtis on #Gogglebox,’ one person tweeted.

‘Curtis Pritchard may have done that joke for charity but I can tell u now he should’ve listened to the expert when she said take it out,’ another said.

Gogglebox returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
