My life is falling apart after losing my baby and I have turned to alcohol

DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS supposed to become a mother last summer – but we lost the baby.

My partner, who’s 44, and I were so excited, especially as I was 42 and thought motherhood would never happen for me.

I have turned to alcohol to try and cope with the trauma of stillbirth

We had decorated the nursery and bought the cot and babygrows.

But in July, when I was 32 weeks pregnant, I found out my baby had died in the womb.

Nobody could explain why and we will probably never know.

I had to go through a full labour and give birth to him, which was unimaginably awful.

Since then, I haven’t been coping at all. I have been drinking heavily to numb the pain and getting into lots of arguments with my partner and family.

I should have a bouncing baby boy. But instead my life is falling apart.

How can I get over this?
