WWE superstar Chelsea Green fired back at an online troll in the past way – and sparked a social media movement celebrating the best of women’s wrestling.

The SmackDown wrestler – who is recovering from an injury she suffered minutes into her blue brand debut last year – was unimpressed after an Instagram follower branded women’s wrestling a ‘joke’ and urged her to stop posting beach snaps and ‘get back in the ring’.

She called out the troll on Twitter, initially posting a bikini picture and writing: ‘Them: stop posting bikini pics and get back in the ring!!!! Me:’

A follower replied: ‘Believe it or not there’s a small percentage of people who’d actually enjoy women’s wrestling to be taken seriously instead of a joke like it is currently.

‘It all being about skin and superficial stuff does not help its case at all.. (sic)’

Chelsea then shared two photos side by side, one as she posed in a bikini on the beach and another showing a bloody wound on the side of her head during a match.

She brilliantly captioned it: ‘WOMENS WRESTLING. (sic)’

This led to top stars from other major companies – including the likes of Naomi, new NXT signing Taya Valkyrie, Xia Brookside, Rhea Ripley and Deonna Purrazzo – getting involved and showing women in wrestling can be body confident and at the top of their in-ring game.

Twitter was flooded with snaps of the stars posing for glamorous shots alongside their battle scars from tough matches.

Mia Yim – known as Reckoning on WWE Raw – shared a photo of her broken nose alongside a stunning poolside picture and pointed out: ‘Women wrestlers can do both.’

Naomi wrote: ‘We not taking this kind of shade especially during #WomensHistoryMonth’.

IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna tweeted: ‘I love WOMEN’S WRESTLING as much as the next person…

‘But being a WOMEN’S WRESTLER has give me the confidence to LOVE MYSELF just as much. (sic)’
